Staff of the NEPAD Secretariat has hailed Ambassador Claver
Gatete, the former President’s Personal Representative to NEPAD, for
his role in Promoting and Implementing the continental body’s
programmes in Rwanda.
Flanked by his family, Gatete was awarded a certificate of
appreciation by the secretariat at a colourful farewell dinner hosted
in his honour at Flamingo Restaurant last week.
During the
function, Francis Gatare, the Personal Representative of the President
on NEPAD, thanked his predecessor for his tireless efforts in ensuring
that NEPAD in Rwanda takes root and promised to ensure that NEPAD’s
vision is achieved.
Gatete, who was last month appointed Rwanda’s
Ambassador to the United Kingdom, thanked the NEPAD team for their hard
work and encouraged them to develop bankable projects to fast track
Rwanda’s development. He promised to continue working with the NEPAD
secretariat to ensure that the projects are funded.
Gatete was instrumental in setting up a NEPAD national structure.
Until his appointment as Ambassador, Gatete served as the secretary General in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning
